    • I have two questions: 1.) I bought pattern I liked and it has following note: "Use two skeins of floss for the cross stitches." What does that mean? I was able to googled pretty much everything else, but still don't understand this one. 2.) Why do I have to separate strands? People I know who stitch don't separate them. Is there much difference in result and what it is?

    • I asked before about a magnetic board to hold cross stitch patterns. I was trying to find one that was bigger than the 8 x 10 inch Loran board. I thought I found one, it was 12 x 18 but it wasn't what I wanted. I had to return it. I was thinking about a magnetic dry erase board. I've seen them 8-1/2 x 11 (the size of a piece of paper) but not sure how they would hold up on the folding stand. Do you think this would be too heavy for the stand? Any other thoughts on what else I could use?

    • I am brand new to cross stitching. Would like to ask if it is necessary to soak the floss before starting my project. I did not soak my very first project but my second one that I am about to start states to soak the dark colors before starting. ( the first kit didn't state this). And, is DMC a better quality floss that does not need soaking? Pretty sure this kit's floss is not DMC.

    • I have a Noah's Ark afghan pattern and all the floss and afghan blanket to sew it on. It is a huge undertaking from the point of size but would be beautiful when done. I have all the supplies to finish this project. Is anyone interested? I would gladly mail this to you! Suzanne

    • Aloha, my mother Judith was an avid cross-stitcher. When she passed away I inherited a bunch of her supplies and patterns. I have been going thru old containers and trying to get rid of stuff that I don't need, and would like to find a way for her supplies to go to someone(s) who would really appreciate it. I wouldn't mind getting some $ for it, but I'm not interested in trying to sell each individual piece on eBay or Etsy or whatever, so I might want to sell it all as one big lot or break it into a few lots. So I'm looking for guidance on the best way to do this. Anyone who is interested in it, or would be so kind as to offer me some pointers on where to sell/move it, would be much appreciated.

    • I like counted cross stitch and I understand the basics on how stitches are formed. But I have a real problem with using the charts. I know how to read them; but even when I count the stitches very carefully, the design on the chart often does not correspond to what ends up on the fabric. I'm always careful to mark the middle of the fabric and move from there; and again, I'm careful about counting stitches as I go. But I run into this problem over and over again, even with simple designs. Can someone please help me? This problem makes it somewhat difficult to enjoy the hobby; and I really, really want to. My grandmother used to do counted cross stitch and she was great at it. For reference, I normally use 14-count Aida cloth.

    • I am searching for a Cross stitch Pattern Charles Ross Victorian christmas stocking pattern 903L "Stockings all hung" stitched it once back in 1990 but looking to do it again for a new grand baby. Even a color copy would work of the actual pattern. I have misplaced the pattern I had at one time.

    • About 12 or so years ago there was a white rose free cross stitch pattern on Mystic Stitch. I'm looking for a copy of that pattern. Does anyone still have it? Mystic Stitch said their file was archived and not available any longer. I'm desperate!

    • I am stumped by an EXTREMELY complex pattern which, when finished, will be a gorilla family. The pattern consists of 30 different numbers and symbols, most of which are stitched one at a time. How do I finish each stitch? Do I tie them off in the back? How do I keep track of the various flosses? I'm so confused that I can't even relate my problem clearly. I would really appreciate some advice.

    • Years ago I stitched seat covers for my antique dining room set. It took a long time, but when it was finished, it was stunning. Each piece was totally stitched (no aida showing around the design) then stapled and covered with a thin clear plastic. I eventually sold the set. Now I'm in the country and would like to do the same thing, but wildlife scenes. I've selected a few from this sight, but I don't know how to expand the pattern to fit the 24 x 24 size i need and I don't want to just put a border around it unless I have to. I don't want to do anything bigger than 14 count. Is this even possible? thanks for any help.

    • Does anyone know where I might find coat of arms counted cross-stitch designs from Hillcroft House that was in business in Newtown, Pennsylvania in the late 1990's? I had purchased a couple of them in the late 1990's (Roberts and Cox), and I am now looking for a Rose Coat of Arms? Thanks so much in advance for any help!!!

    • Hi! I'm about to embark on a huge project. It's the Supersized Four Seasons Max Colors. Finished project is about 40 inches square on 25 count linen, over one. There are 234 colors. My questions are: have you used the DMC Stitch Bow system and do you like it and, where do you think I can most easily and cheaply get, I'm guessing, 400 or so skeins of DMC floss? Any help is welcome! Thanks, Bill

    • Hello this is a long shot but has anyone ever bought from MysticStitch.com? I have been ordering from this website for over nine years but the last order I placed in July has never arrived and they will not tell me why. They won't even email me back. Paid through PayPal so it's past the 60 days.

    • I'm looking for a cross-stitch pattern of a Poem, written by Beth Norman Harris called "A Dog's Prayer." If there is not one, I would like to know what I need to do to have one made for me. I'm not the best at the computer thing, so any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    • This is a longshot, I realize, but help. I lost several finished needlepoints to - shall we say - The Flood of 2012. I rarely do kits because of the quality but these two I couldn't resist. I've been able to replace one of them, but the second one has been a challenge. Not sure whose kit it was, believe I bought it in the mid- to late-'70s. I'm thinking Dimensions but it might have been Bucilla, one of the well-known brands. It was two carousel horseheads, the one in the foreground was white and I think the one in back was smaller and brown. All I remember for sure is there was a lot of red, white & blue in it. Anybody recall that item, maybe have a clue to put my feet pointing in the right direction toward replacing it? Thanks for any clues or help.

    • so when I cross stitch, I go from right to left, the X's look aligned. Now when I have a row of single X's going upward, if you do stitches upward, the look of the project is going to make the X's look different. How do you all handle when you have a row of like 10 stitches going upward (like when making a tree branch). do you do the whole X, one at a time, or what do you do to make the upwards X's look like the same as the left to right x's?

    • Any tips on multi page charts? I bought the Janlyn guardian angel kit and it is 9 pages. I tried to copy it, but pages are too large to make photo copies. I even tried the copier at my work and still to large. I have never done anything over 1 page and is a little intimidating.

    • Several years ago, I had seen a product in a cross-stitch magazine that I should have ordered, but didn't. It was an iron-on grid in 14 ct. which could be put on a sweatshirt for crosstitching. Another product was a wash-out fabric in 14 ct. to baste on the garment. After stitching, the garment is washed and the fabric washes out. Does anyone know where I can buy either of these products? Thanks.

    • I have returned from buying the DMC Water Soluble Waste Canvas and need to comment on it. The YouTube tutorial looks very easy, but it takes quite a bit of fussing with the pins to get the canvas on straight. Then the basting moved the canvas again and puckered the sweatshirt fabric. There must be a better way! Please Marv, try to find that iron-grid I've mentioned. I've looked everywhere with no luck. Maybe you could design it and solve our problems.
