This may be a dumb question but I am a beginner at cross stitching and I bought a kit that did not have the picture on the fabric but on the back of the instructions. How do I cross stitch this? DO I cross stitch right over the paper onto the fabric or do I figure out to the best of my ability to copy the image given. Probably not the best kit to buy for a beginner. Thanks for the help!!! -- Patti from Massachusetts

- What you have is a pattern. Each square on the pattern corresponds to a square on the cloth. Fold the fabric in half, then in half again, to find the center. then find the center of the graph, by following the two black arrows to the middle of the pattern. You can start stitching there, since this is your first one. Really not that tough, but it does take a bit of getting used to. Just remember to cross the stitches or "x's" in the same direction. Hope you enjoy when you get the hang of it. I have been doing it over 30 years, and love it. -- Lisa from Douglasville, GA 30134 -- May 14
- What you bought is counted cross stitch...not stamped cross stitch. This means you follow the pattern and stitch as you count onto the fabric. It is difficult to put into words. I'll bet there are YouTube tutorials...there seem to be for everything. Look for counted cross stitch. If you don't find a tutorial. I will try to explain further via emails. -- brandvold bell.net from Ontario -- May 14
- If you google 'How to Cross Stitch' you will find lots of info. For a beginner I like: http://www.yarntree.com/007begin.htm -- Marv Schier from Crosstitch.com -- May 14

About Copyrights:
Copyright patterns may not be copied and given to someone else. It's against the law and it's dishonest. On the Internet, one copy can quickly turn into one million which basically takes away the need for people to buy the patterns, which puts the designers out of business. You can give away, trade, or sell the original leaflet though.
In the case of Crosstitch.com patterns, which are by subscription, all patterns are for the members personal use only and may not be given away or re-distibuted in any manner.
