Instructions:
(Note: width and height are limited to a few lines in our Free trial version.)
Choose an alphabet and page width, type in your words, and then click 'Preview Caption' to view your text formatted with the settings that you specified. If you make a mistake just use your back arrow to come back here and try again. Color is optional and can be changed to improve readabilty (choose 'black' if you don't have a color printer). Of course you can do the actual stitching with any colors your heart desires! (Note: Javascript must be enabled for alphabet types to display in the small box above.)
The amount of letters that will fit within a given page size varies widely depending on the size of the alphabet you choose. For large amounts of text choose smaller sized letters (lower alphabet numbers) or your design will likely end up too large. For example, with our very large alphabets you may only fit a few words - use these for large banners or signs, and use the smaller alphabets for poems and saying, etc. You can always use your back arrow to come back and try different alphabets, etc. Click 'Center' to center all lines of text.
A full size pattern page on standard letter size paper is 110x140 stitches (8"x10" on 14ct). Larger sizes will display and print on multiple pages up to a maximum size of 330x280 stitches.
We have a stitch count calculator on the site if you need it but basically: Inches x Count = Stitches, so if you need a design 5" wide on 18 count: 5x18=90 so set the width to 90 stitches. You only need to enter a page width, the height will be determined by the amount of text you enter. If you need to fit text into a specific area on your fabric you may find it best just to count the available stitches.
Patterns are displayed in PDF format which requires the free Adobe Reader if you don't already have it installed. Another good free PDF program is: Foxit Reader - and it is a much smaller download if you don't have high-speed Internet.
Once the pattern displays on your screen, use the PDF functions such as 'zoom + -', to get a closer view of your pattern, 'save as', to save a copy to your computer, and print.
Enjoy! ^ Back to top ^
